The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The pool was nice and big. The ground was beautiful. Our room facing away from the street had a nice view of the forest and mountain. It was quiet. I had the best sleep there on my entire three weeks in Mexico. There is a wonderful Indian restaurant Senor Naan less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel. It was so good we had dinner and then lunch the next day. Costa Benito run by a lovely family is an amazing, beautiful, authentic Oaxacan restaurant up on a hill behind the hotel. It's only an 11 minute walk but requires climbing a long, steep hill. Either need to be in good shape or best to take a taxi. The Chicatana (name of a flying ant specy that is an ingredient in the dish) was one of my favorite dishes on our trip. Very tasty! I learned after from our tour guide that there aren't many restaurants that serve the dish because it is labor intensive and difficult to make it taste good. So we were lucky the restaurant was by the hotel.

This was perfect hotel for us. The rooms and beds were comfortable and quiet. The staff are all superb, friendly, and very helpful; we received high quality service at all times. The property is beautiful; the trees and grounds are well kept and are filled with colourful birds (and some big squirrels). I birdwatched every morning. The restaurant buffet is fabulous - entrees change daily and you can sit above the garden and enjoy the view. We ate in the hotel bar a few times. They will let you order from the restaurant menu and you will have an amazing view of the city centre. I enjoyed the swimming pool every day. Several days a week, the hotel offers a bus that will take you to the centre in the evening and bring you back to the hotel. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about Hotel Victoria. It was terrific.

Great service, friendly, clean - and the pool and gardens are lovely. (Some reviews complain that the pool needs updating. It's not pristine. But if you can stand a few chips in the concrete, it's a lot nicer than some more modern ones because it's spacious, meticulously cleaned, and surrounded by gardens. We loved it.) As others have said, some aspects of the hotel do have a rather worn and dated feel, not least the carpets which desperately need replacing. The plumbing could use some help as well. But it's a great deal, and we found it all charming.

I previously reviewed my stay at the hotel but missed to include a couple of items: - The room didn't have dark curtains, the sunlight came into the room at 6:00am very bright, not allowing us to sleep any longer. Please install dark curtains in all rooms for a better sleep. - In general, the staff was nice, but the service at the bar was slow, the pool was crowded, and nobody came to check on guests for food/drinks service. Service needs improvement!

Loved this hotel and wish we had longer here. Great size room, away from the main centre but we preferred this. On a hill so lovely views of the mountains. Didn't eat or drink here but the facilities looked good. Staff were helpful and friendly and always on hand to call cabs etc. Room was big and the facilities were great.
